Q: What is "Baptism of the
Holy Spirit" or "Spirit Filled"?
A:
These phrases are widely used among Pentecostal or Charismatic churches. They
signify a person who has the Holy Spirit dwelling inside them. In the Old
Testament/Covenant the Holy Spirit only came upon a person for a short while to
accomplish a given task, then departed.
See:
Num 24:2 | Judg 3:10 | Judg
11:29 | Judg 14:6
In the New Testament Jesus promised to send us the Comforter which is the Holy
Spirit.
See:
John 14:16 | John 14:26 | John
15:26 | John 16:7

Q: Don't all Christians have the Holy Spirit?
A: While it is true that the Holy Spirit helps all Christians,
he only lives in those who ask him to. He is like an invited guest. Jesus
instructs the 120 to pray in one accord until the comforter came, If all
Christians have the Holy Spirit just by being Christian then there would not
have been a need to pray for days for the Comforter.
See: Acts 1:1 - 2:4

Q: Are you saying that there are
some people who are less Christian than others?
A; No, I believe that God loves us all and that you can do
mighty works through Christ who gives you strength Phil 4:13 , however the
Baptism of the Holy Spirit gives you benefits that you would not otherwise have.
See: Acts 1:8 | Rom
8:26 | 1 Cor 14:4

Q: How do I get this baptism?
A: Ask Jesus for it , pray earnestly every day until you receive
it. Some people get spirit filled in minutes others take months of seeking (I
believe this is how much contestment you receive from the enemy) Or by the
laying on of hands by someone who has this Baptism
See: Acts 1:1 - 2:4 | Acts
9:17 | Acts 19:6 | Acts 10:45

Q: How do I know if I have the
Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
A: The evidence of being spirit filled is speaking in tongues.
See: Acts 1:5 | Acts
2:4 | Acts 19:6

Q: How do I know that tongues are
really a good thing?
A: Paul stated how glad he was to speak in tongues, he also said
not to forbid it in the church. Also in Acts 6:3 it was a requirement for even a
menial task.
See: 1
Cor 14:5 | 1 Cor 14:18 | 1 Cor
14:39 | Acts 6:3

Q: Why should I ask for this,
what is in it for me?
A: As discussed earlier Power, Edification, Intercession on your
behalf, Glorifcation of God and Signs and wonders.
See: Acts 1:8 | Rom
8:26 | Cor 14:4 | Mark 16:17 | Acts
10:46

Q: I heard that tongues are from
Satan, how do I know if they are from God?
A: God promised that if you ask him he will make sure that you
receive the Holy Spirit. He also promised he would not send another spirit.

Q: I went to a meeting once where
they were supposedly speaking in tongues but it sounded like a bunch of
gibberish to me how do you know that it is not just made up?
A: First of all personal testimonies then a scriptural one. I
speak Spanish, however I can not roll my R's no matter how hard I tried, however
my prayer language has R's that roll. No matter how hard I try in the flesh to
copy this sound I cannot. Just because you do not recognize the sound does not
mean it is not a valid language. I also have heard testimonies of people
speaking in languages and linguists saying that they were languages that have
been dead for thousands of years. But God knows those languages and can choose
to use them if he wishes. Now from scripture, John says tongues of men and
angles, God also said With men of other tongues and other lips.

Cor 14:21
